The public hearing scheduled for Tuesday, January 24th
was cancelled at the last minute. We have heard rumors that House Bill 1006 is
dead in Committee. We can’t be sure of that yet, so we still need to be
vigilant. If the Bill doesn’t come out of Committee by this Friday, January 27th,
it will be dead for this legislative session.
We shouldn’t celebrate a victory until Friday and even then,
it’s far from over. The Bill could be introduced again, by a different author,
in the next legislative session. This caught all of us by surprise and we can’t
allow that to happen again. It is obvious that the people who run our state government
don’t understand the beauty industry.
If we start taking away licence for our professional workers we are in essence stepping back in time. Where do we stop? Should we continue with nurses, doctore, physical therapist, psychiatrist etc.. Why not, is it really important that a person be required to have any knowledge or education in order to take care of our physical or mental wellbeing. Really!!! you do the math????????????? sounds medieval to me.
